When is the library open?

The library is open and has returned to our pre-pandemic hours. Curbside pick-up is also available by request. 

We have a capacity counter system to monitor how many library users are in the library at a time. When you enter the building, look at the monitor. If we are at capacity, please wait outside until another patron leaves.
 
Please be mindful of our capacity and how long you spend in our building. We want everyone to have access to our collection. If possible, please try to limit your visit to 15 minutes.

We continue to offer curbside pick-up, the ability to return library materials, online resources, online programming, free wi-fi, wi-fi printing, and copier services.

We are not yet open for:

  • Meeting room use

Updates will be posted on social media and our website when they become available.

Are masks required?

Yes. Masks are required for all individuals age 2 and older in accordance with an order by Public Health Madison Dane County.  Curbside pickup is available for those who cannot or do not wish to wear a mask.

How do I pick up my holds?

In-Person Hold Pick-Up

The library is open for in-person browsing and holds pick up. Come in with your library card, find your holds on the shelf, and check out your items using the self-checkouts or bring the items up to the circulation desk!

Curbside Hold Pick-Up

The library provides curbside pick-up upon request for patrons with items waiting on our holds shelf.

When you arrive at the library for Curbside Pick-up:

  • Pull up in front of the building.
  • Have your library card number ready and call (608) 835-3656.
  • Watch for your materials to be placed on the cart.
  • When library staff returns into the building, you may pick up your items from the cart.

You do not need an appointment.

If there are no overdue fines through December 31, 2021, why are there charges on my account?

If you have an item checked out that is more than 4 weeks overdue our system marks that item as "Lost" and the replacement cost is automatically charged to your account. Once you return the item, the replacement cost will be removed from your account and as long as the item is returned before December 31, 2021 there will be no late fees added to your account.

If you have fees over $20.00 you will be blocked from placing holds in LINKcat. That block will be lifted once your charges are below $20.00.

I have lost item charges over $20.00 but I want to place holds. Can I just pay the fees online so that I can place holds and then return the items for refunds?

If you have lost materials that you intend to return, DO NOT pay for them online and then request a refund. Because each library in the South Central Library System sets its own refund policy, we cannot guarantee that you would be eligible for a refund.

Can the librarian pick out items for me?

We have librarians who can pull materials for you, your child, and your teen. Request books, movies, magazines and more!

To make a request, complete the Librarian's Choice form and a librarian will get back to you with instructions for how to pick up the materials.  

Can I return library materials?

Yes. Our outside bookdrop, located on the side of the building nearest the Senior Center, is open 24/7.

We do not quarantine returned items. If you return materials to other libraries, they may have a quarantine period. 

Can I use the photocopier?

Yes. Prints are $0.10 for black and white and $0.50 for color copies.

Staff can also make copies for you while you wait in your car or you can come in and use the self-service photocopier. 

Can I use a computer?

Yes. You may use a library computer for up to 2 hours per day.

You do not need to make an appointment to use the computer but if you would like to reserve a time in advance you may do so by calling us at (608) 835-3656.

I need to print something. How do I use your printer?

Prints are $0.10 for black and white and $0.50 for color copies. 

Wi-Fi Printing

You may also use our Wi-Fi printing and then pick up your print with curbside-pick up. Upload your document to the Wi-Fi Printing portal. Here are instructions for using the portal (PDF).

If you prefer you can email or forward your document to us. For black and white prints email the document to oregonpubliclibrary-webprint-bw@printspots.com and for color prints use oregonpubliclibrary-webprint-color@printspots.com.

After you submit your document, give us a call at (608) 835-3656 to make sure we have received your print job and then you can pick it up. Prints are $0.10 for black and white and $0.50 for color copies.  Documents will be available to print for up to 48 hours.

Can I use your wi-fi?

Yes. We have free wireless internet available in our building and outside in the parking lot.

Are you accepting donations of materials for the Friends book sale right now?

No, we are not able to accept donated books or other materials at this time.

What online resources can I access while the library is closed?

The library provides many online resources. You can download ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines as well as access many other resources. Get started on Research & Discovery or Research & Discovery for Kids & Families.

The library also has free Wi-Fi that you can access outside the library building.
