The library will be open for in-person browsing, Monday through Friday from 11 am to 6 pm.
- Browsing is first come first serve, no need for an appointment!
- Curbside pick-up will continue to be available.
We have installed a capacity counter system to monitor how many library users are in the library at a time. When you enter the building, look at the monitor. If we are at capacity, please wait outside until another patron leaves.
As we begin to open our building back up, please be mindful of our capacity and how long you spend in our building. We want everyone to have access to our collection. If possible, please try to limit your visit to 15 minutes.
We are not yet open for:
- Meeting room use
- Seating areas
- Test proctoring
- Microfilm research
Updates will be posted on social media and our website when they become available.
When visiting the library, wearing a mask is appreciated & encouraged but not required. Library staff will continue to wear masks.
When attending programs held at a location other than the library, masks may be required depending on the rules of the hosting or partnering organization.
In-Person Hold Pick-Up
We are excited to announce that starting May 17th, the library will be open for in-person browsing and holds pick up, Monday through Friday from 11 am to 6 pm.
We have installed a capacity counter system to monitor how many library users are in the library at a time. When you enter the building, look at the monitor. If we are at capacity, please wait outside until someone leaves.
Come in with your library card, find your holds on the shelf, and check out your items using the self-checkouts or bring the items up to the circulation desk!
Curbside Hold Pick-Up
The library provides curbside pick-up during the following times for patrons with items waiting on our holds shelf:
Mondays, Tuesdays, & Wednesdays 11:30am - 7:30pm
Thursdays & Fridays 8:30am - 3:30pm
Saturdays 9:00am - 2:30pm
When you arrive at the library for Curbside Pick-up:
- Pull up the sign in front of the building.
- Have your library card number ready and call (608) 835-3656.
- Staff will assign you a number on the table. Watch for your materials to be placed by that number.
- When library staff returns into the building, you may pick up your items from the table.
You do not need an appointment, but if you have a lot of items and would like to make an appointment, use our Curbside Pick-Up form and we will email you an appointment time to pick up your items.
If you have an item checked out that is more than 4 weeks overdue our system marks that item as "Lost" and the replacement cost is automatically charged to your account. Once you return the item, the replacement cost will be removed from your account and as long as the item is returned before August 31, 2021 there will be no late fees added to your account.
If you have fees over $20.00 you will be blocked from placing holds in LINKcat. That block will be lifted once your charges are below $20.00.
I have lost item charges over $20.00 but I want to place holds. Can I just pay the fees online so that I can place holds and then return the items for refunds?
If you have lost materials that you intend to return, DO NOT pay for them online and then request a refund. Because each library in the South Central Library System sets its own refund policy, we cannot guarantee that you would be eligible for a refund.
If you have fees on your account but would like to place a hold call the library at (608) 835-3656.
We have librarians who can pull materials for you, your child, and your teen. Request books, movies, magazines and more!
To make a request, complete the Curbside Pick-Up form. On the LIBRARIAN'S CHOICE question, select the age group of the reader who would like items and then answer questions about the reader's interests.
